Thomas was born and raised in the metro Atlanta area, growing up in Marietta and then graduating from high school in college and Kennesaw. Thomas went to Kennesaw Mountain High School, class of ‘06 and his mother is a North Cobb high school graduate. Thomas has deep roots in the area with his grandparents building a house located just behind Kennesaw state.

After graduating from high school, Thomas had a Passion for helping those in need and becoming a bigger part of the community. He initially attended University of Alabama and finished his undergraduate studies at Kennesaw State University as a Communication major.

He then attended and graduated from Georgia state University College of Law where he was on the trial team both years of his trial team eligibility.

While in law school Thomas worked for Criminal Defense attorney’s as well as interning for the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office, as well as the Honorable Judge Goger, Fulton County Superior Court Judge. Thomas also volunteered for the Fulton County Public Defender’s Office while in law school, primarily practicing in front of the Honorable Judge Newkirk, Fulton County Superior Court Judge.

After graduating, Thomas joined the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office as an Assistant Solicitor, where he specialized in prosecuting DUIs, Domestic Violence cases, and Drug and Narcotics cases. Despite his work as a prosecutor Thomas always had a passion for criminal defense work and helping those accused of crimes. He is a firm believer that one small mistake should not change a person’s life.

With that in mind, Thomas founded The Freedom Lawyers with the goal of defending those wrongfully accused of crimes they didn’t commit and helping those through the criminal court process. Thomas is a trial attorney specializing in fighting cases to trial and getting the best results at trial for his clients. Because of his experience as a prosecutor, Thomas has the unique knowledge and insight to defend your rights to the fullest, and to know how the state plans to attack your case.

Jessica grew up in metro Atlanta and is happy to be “home” defending people in the community and helping them navigate the criminal court system. It is her privilege to stand by people during some, if not the, worst days of their lives. Jessica’s primary focus and specialty for the past three years has been in misdemeanor cases including DUI, Reckless Driving, Criminal Traffic violations, License Suspensions, Vehicular Manslaughter, Battery (Family Violence), Assault, and misdemeanor and felony Probation Revocation proceedings.

Jessica attended the University of Georgia for her undergraduate degree and majored in English. She then attended and graduated from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, FL. She graduated with a competitive GPA and desire to help others.

Since graduating, Jessica has defended hundreds of people accused of crimes as an Assistant Public Defender with the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Florida and then the Ocmulgee Circuit in Georgia. She has extensive trial experience and has tried twenty jury trials between the two states. Jessica is a firm believer in the Constitution and fights for your rights. She believes everyone deserves the best defense afforded to them under the law.

Shirbrea comes to The Freedom Lawyers after years of working as a Prosecutor in both the Douglas County and Clayton County Solicitor’s Offices where she prosecuted cases including DUI, Domestic Violence, Drug Charges, and Vehicular Homicide. As a former Clayton County Prosecutor’s office supervisor, she brings years of courtroom experience and an expertise in the inter-workings of both the courts and Prosecutor’s Offices.

Shirbrea’s inspiration for Criminal Defense comes from her family, her values, and her passion for fighting for what is right. Shirbrea changed sides so that she could make a difference for individual’s facing the daunting Criminal system. She has seen first hand the impact that an unfair prosecution or poor investigation can do on a those accused of a crime, and strives to bring that viewpoint and motivation to every case she defends.

Shirbrea has handled hundreds of DUI and Drug cases in Georgia, and specializes in trial Defense. She works tirelessly to defend all of her clients to the fullest extent the law allows.

Katilyn began working with The Freedom Lawyers in 2022 as a Legal Assistant and through her exceptional organizational skills and ability to anticipate the needs of the litigation team earned her promotion to Paralegal.

Katilyn is a Georgia native, growing up in Canton, Georgia. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 2017. She graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Criminology and Psychology.

Katilyn uses her communication skills and management background to work with our attorneys on all litigation cases, as well as the management of the staff. Katilyn has worked hands-on in cases involving bonding issues, DUIs, Aggravated Assaults, Armed Robberies, Drug Cases, Arsons, and Murders. With an interest in criminal justice and law, working with The Freedom Lawyers allows her to utilize her strengths and follow her passion for helping those in need.

Ashley began working with The Freedom Lawyers in 2024 as a legal assistant and Spanish Liaison. Ashley is from Powder Springs, Georgia. She graduated from Hillgrove High School in 2018 and continued her education at Georgia State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude earning her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2022. With a strong foundation in criminal justice and legal studies, she is dedicated to making a positive impact in the Hispanic community. Ashley prides herself in breaking language barriers to those who might feel helpless during turbulent times. Ashley is driven by commitment to uphold justice and equity, and she uses her Fluency in Spanish and passion for Justice to serve all of our clients with Professionalism with a Personal Touch.

Gabriela joined the team as a legal assistant and Spanish liaison the summer of 2024. She brings a deep commitment to justice and advocacy. Raised in Kennesaw, she graduated from Kennesaw Mountain High school in 2017 and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Kennesaw State University in 2021. Gabriela further advanced her expertise with a Paralegal Certification from Kennesaw State University’s Community and Professional Education College. Fluent in Spanish, she is dedicated to bridging language gaps and advocating for the Hispanic and Spanish speaking community. Her work is driven by passion for fairness in the criminal justice system and a strong belief in providing a voice to those facing legal challenges, especially within the Hispanic community.

Erica Joined the Freedom Lawyers as an Assistant Paralegal and Client RElations Coordinator in June 2025, bringing with her a background in customer service, client engagement, and dedication to justice.

Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, Erica moved to Georgia to study at Toccoa Falls College in 2018. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, she made Marietta, Georgia her home.

Erica’s passion is in helping every client feel seen. Every day, she checks our open clients cases for court updates or new court dates, and manages the client communication regarding any case developments. She ensures our entire team is on top of the details of every case, and that clients are also informed. Her tendency to be detaile-oriented and her compassion for our clients drives her work every day.
