Tree Cabling & Tree Bracing Support Services

What is Tree Cabling?

Tree cabling involves installing steel cables between major limbs to reduce the strain and help support the tree. Cabling also helps to reduce stress damage from high winds, so that when a limb or section of your tree fails, cables help to prevent them from falling into, on or around your structures and property, thereby reducing the risk of further damage.

What is Through-Bolting Tree Support?

Through-bolting is typically the remedy for trees with large, weak, or split crotches. Through-bolting is used to give direct support and alleviate the strain caused by twisting. A metal rod is inserted through the crotch and two more cables are placed above it, to create stability and integrity to the tree.

Tree Supports & Cabling System Inspections

Properly installed cabling systems are unobtrusive and are largely non-visible to the untrained eye. However, “out of sight” can never mean “out of mind,” and that’s why cabling systems should be professionally examined once a year and again after each major storm. An experienced climber should inspect the system every five years while visual ground inspections will suffice in the years between.

What Are Tree Supports & Why Are They Needed?

Tree supports are installed most commonly to add support for low-hanging limbs or for parts of the tree where there is excessive weight and/or trees with a heavy lean. Our techniques prevent you from needing to remove the tree.
