There are several types of rubber band braces namely; triangle rubber bands, class 2 elastic, class 3 elastic, cross elastic, anterior elastic, Box rubber bands, interarch rubber bands, open bite elastics, ligature, and elastic separator.
- Triangle rubber bands; are v-shaped and their purpose is to fix the position of the canines.
- Class 2 elastic; their purpose is to fix class 2 div 1 malocclusion, anterior open bite, and midline deviation.
- Class 3 elastic; they help push forward when one or more upper teeth are towards the inside.
- Cross elastic; used to fix crossbite. It is connected to the teeth in the same jaw to fix a tooth out of place.
- Anterior elastics; fixes the deep bite or overbite and the distance between the front teeth.
- Box rubber bands; work to close the gap between teeth.
