Orthodontic Treatment: Not Only Cosmetic, but Necessary
Many people think that a successful orthodontic treatment results in only a beautiful smile and may not understand its importance for our complex biological process. They think only of the aesthetic results and not the real functional results a properly aligned smile offers. They might ignore the impact misaligned teeth can cause to your health. Problems in chewing, biting, swallowing, speech, and nutrition are the major impacts which can further lead to your tooth decay, jaw pain, and chronic headaches. Therefore, orthodontic treatment is necessary to keep your mouth and body healthy. Consider these benefits that an orthodontic treatment can bring to you and your child and can help him or her save from overcrowded, under bite and overbite teeth problems:
Proper biting and chewing
Makes your biting and chewing easy to gain full nutritional value of your food
Help in avoiding jaw, teeth or soft tissues injury
Teeth can be chipped or injured when they collide and repeated irregular forces to maintain your chewing, speaking and swallowing can cause big problems for you so orthodontic treatment helps to avoid all these injuries.
Tooth Decay prevention
Plaque and cavities can develop very quickly and strongly between overcrowded teeth making your teeth weak and prone to fallen apart easily. Also, plaque can affect the health of your gums leading to gum disease so ensure orthodontic treatment for overcrowded teeth to ensure teeth and gums health.
Increased self-confidence
A smile is very crucial in bringing confidence to any personality. Achievement of a perfect smile is possible with orthodontic treatment of your misaligned teeth.
Working together with your orthodontist, orthodontic treatment can yield life-enhancing results.

Medicaid Plan in Wisconsin
Wisconsin Medicaid is a joint federal and state program that provides high quality health care coverage to over 1 million residents of Wisconsin. Although it is funded by both the federal and state government, it is primarily administered at the state level. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is the state agency that is responsible for this oversight. A part of DHS, ForwardHealth is the umbrella program that brings together many state agencies and programs to provide an improved and more efficient healthcare experience. There are different programs of Medicaid for children, adults, seniors, pregnant women, and people with disabilities with different eligibility requirements that must be met to become eligible.
Eligibility Criteria for Medicaid
Orthodontist in Wisconsin
Orthodontic treatment in Wisconsin is approved after a health check screening process and advised according to the issues or concerned identified. We recommend that before applying to any program, first you check if you are eligible for any specific coverage. In Wisconsin, medicaid orthodontic treatment coverage is available to the patients of age below 21 so if your child has medicaid coverage, they might be a candidate for orthodontic treatment covered under medicaid. All orthodontic services require Prior authorization (PA) by the Wisconsin Medicaid Providers. This PA will decide the reimbursement to the approved service.
- Pre-orthodontic treatment visits include an examination, consultation, and the obtaining of diagnostic casts. This service is limited to members with an orthodontic diagnosis only. Providers may submit claims for these services before submitting a PA request for orthodontic treatment.
- Panoramic x-rays, cephalometric x-ray, and oral and facial photographic images for members with an orthodontic diagnosis do not require a PA. Claims for these services may be submitted before submission of a PA request for orthodontic treatment.
